That determine play strategy and the race you choose at the beginning.

Defenders are someone who attacks very rarely. The main goal of a defender is to maintain and prevail against attackers. Defenders primarily focus on building defensive units and a strong defensive army. Most Defenders are the Gaul type character, because they have best defense units and skills. Although occasionally you may find a Defender who is playing as Roman, but mostly that type of players just don’t want to change the race they’ve begin to play.

Attackers are always raiding nearby players. The primary strategy of an attacker is to build up a strong offensive army for raiding. That is their way to earn resources and improve their own economy. Teuton character types are often attackers.

Players strategies.

Most Travian players start with one strategy and stick with it. The two most common strategies, for both attacking and defending are Booming and Rushing.

Booming is a strategy of building up your economics in advance of building a strong military. You expand your economic might as much as possible and then gradually build your army. This works for both attackers and defenders.

Rushing is a strategy of building up an army to gain power through military might. Economy is ignored in favor of a powerful force for either attacking nearby players or defending your turf. That of course helps to keep resources on high level.

Rushing relies on your ability to steal resources from reasonably defenseless players following a Booming strategy. If you can pull it off, you can build a strong military and still gain resources by acquiring them from others. The potential downside to this strategy is losing. If you lose early on, you don’t have the economic backing to recover and build back up, leaving yourself vulnerable to attack with no way to gain ground. Also their always a risk that nearby players have strong friends which will come and kill you.

Booming might look like the conservative approach. You start by building an economy, which makes you somewhat open to attack from a Rushing strategy. The key thing to remember, is that by building an economy first, you can more quickly recover from losses and replace assets and build an army. Most of the people who eventually dominate their corner of Travian succeed by Booming first and then shifting to an attack strategy after they’ve built a strong economy.

Of course you always find you own strategy by combine this ones in different proportions.

source : http://www.browsergamesdigest.com/travian-player-types-and-strategies/

Travian Counter or Attack Calculation

you can use :

http://www.javaschubla.de/2006/travian/wegerechner/wegerechner-t3i.html?lang=en

to calculate time arrival of your troops or your enemy's troops

Travian Building tips

This are just a few building tips for travian that I think might be usefull. At least this is how I go about doing this, and it’s worked well for me. This is just stuff I try to follow whenever I start up a new village, to make it grow as quickly and efficiently as possible.

1. Warehouse and granary first.
I always spend gold whenever I build a new village to get the warehouse and granary up 4-5 levels. It’s so much easier building the other things up quickly when you’ve got good space in your warehouse and granary for resources. This is assuming you send resources from several other villages to your new one.

2. Main building.
If you don’t want to use much gold, it’s nice to get the main building up to a decent level so that the building speed is quicker. Building the main building takes a lot of time though, so do this when you’re waiting for other resources to come in or have to log off for a while.

3. Place buildings in the same spots.
It’s just so much easier to find the right building in your village when you place them in the same spots in every single village you build. I usually put the buildings of similar type close to each other as well, like stable and barracks close, etc.

4. Put up the culture buildings quickly.
The embassy for one, is real cheap to build to the first level, the academy is fairly cheap too, so I think it’s a good idea to just put them up there as soon as possible and let them stand and gather culture points for you.

5. Gold and resource fields.
If you have the resources and want to get your production in a new village up quickly, I suggest using gold to get one resource of each to level 10. Getting one field of each type to level 10 increases your production a lot, and the gold cost is far less than keeping them at the same level to reach the same production.

This is all for now, will add more later.

source : http://www.travianstrategy.com/travian-building-tips

Culture points list - Travian.us:: Forum

Culture Points

Culture points (CP) are a restriction that limits the number villages you can found or conquer. Most successful teutons start out similar to this.

Teuton is my favourite tribe and the one I have played most often. The reason I like teutons is that it’s a very aggressive tribe and it really favours the active player. Like I’ve mentioned before in the introduction guide you should start out about 3 days after the server has started, so that you can start raiding quicker and so that you’re not put in the middle of everyone else.

Get the rewards
If you play on a system where there is a quest reward system I suggest following that untill you’re at the last part of it. That way is quicker than starting out farming right away cause of all the resources it gives you. It actually gives you close to 6000 resources total and farming can’t beat that, since you in either case would have to wait longer before you can start farming with the new rules not getting the resources from homeland anymore. The last part of the reward system is where you’re supposed to extend all fields to level two, and I don’t think teutons should do that untill they find themself in desperate need of the NPC merchant. It costs a lot to extend everything to level two and it’s much better to put those resources into clubs. If you buy gold, don’t do it at all untill you’ve got your second village.

Throughout this guide I will state some goals you should try to reach before you move on instead of using like day 2, day 3 and so forth, as it depends a lot on the area you land in how fast you’re able to grow the first days.

3 clubs
From your first three clubs are ready you should be raiding and building clubs non stop. Just farm all the villages around you that are low in population with 2-3 clubs each. When players have used the reward to get a rat as defence you’ll need 3 clubs to kill it without losses, so send 3 on your first attack. As soon as you get the report you send another raid at them assuming you got max the previous raid, if not let them rest for some time, the bigger the population the shorter time you let them rest as bigger populations usually means more resource fields built, and thus a quicker production of resources. I think you should aim for about 50 clubs before you start worrying about other farming players out there. If anyone attacks you during this time don’t bother attacking them back, just make sure you have all your clubs out and that you’ve spent all your resources so they get nothing. Make sure however that you remember who attacked you and their army size.

When it comes to the barracks you should increase it’s level whenever you have a 2-3 hours building que in it. You’ll need a higher level barracks if you’re playing normal server, since building times are three times as long. Granary and warehouse should be upgraded as needed. Better to have them too large than too small.

50 clubs
Now it is time that you take a look around your 7×7 and figure out who else has an raiding army out there. Don’t mind the romans and gauls, just look at the teutons for now. Hopefully you’ll have the biggest army at this point, but you have to use it wisely. You have to destroy your competitors army by attacking them, don’t use your clubs to defend with even if you have enough to kill off the attacking force. Your raiding army is your bread and butter, you need it to raid and grow with, don’t waste them unless you can kill a competitors clubs with it in an attack. The best way to do this in my opinion is to counter attacks made on you. I’ve written more about that in my COMBAT GUIDE, but a short summary here.

When you see an incoming attack on you from another teauton, save up your clubs at home untill 39 seconds before they arrive. Then send your clubs out on an attack somewhere, and 20 seconds later you cancel your attack so they come back just 1 second after your enemy has attacked you. As soon as they arrive home you send them on an attack towards an enemy. If you do this efficiently you can manage to land your attack at your enemy just a couple of seconds after his army returns and maybe catch them all at home if you’re lucky. It is not as easy as attacking your enemy with faster troops, but when both armies have the same speed it’s the only way to do it.

100 clubs
At about 100 clubs I usually build up my academy and get about 5 scouts. With the scouts you can raid more efficiently and I’ll use the first one to find out whether the romans and gauls in my area with high population have troops or not. You can also use them to scout enemy teutons but beware that you most likely won’t see their whole army as it’s usually out raiding. You should also have at least one scout at home all the time so that you notice scout attempts, which you’ll increase as you get more scouts. I tend to build one more scout for every 10 clubs untill I have 200 clubs.

200 clubs
As you work your way towards 200 clubs I suggest starting the infrastructure for your first party if you play on a speed server. You only need one party on a speed server to get your second village, and if things work out well you should be able to have this party around day 3. I’d advice you to keep building clubs at the same time, but don’t increase your barracks level more in this period. After you get the party going start building your residence to level 10 and then settlers. Make sure you never have your settlers at home when you’re not there to watch them, it really hurts having one of them killed in an attack. On a speed server you should be able to have a second city on day four as long as you don’t face too much trouble with your neighbour teutons.

If you play on a normal speed server, don’t mind the party infrastructure untill you reach at least 200 clubs. If you start partying too early you’ll need 3 of them to get your second city, and you probably won’t have enough income to run those 3 right after each other. And there is no use in running one and then having to wait, as you could just as well have waited starting the first one. I usually build the level 10 mainbuilding first, as it’s cheap, then I put up the level 10 academy, then level 1 townhall and then level 10 residence. After I’ve done this I just let it stand there and gather culture points for me untill I have a large enough raid income to run the party and build the settlers without much deadtime in between. I usually have about 400 clubs at the time I build my second village on a normal server.

A few tips on where to put your second village. If you’re using gold and/or are playing on a normal server a 15 cropper is the way to go. A cropper will produce more total resources than any other city cause of the bonus buildings, and it will also be a better base for big armies, so if you use gold you should always chose a 15 cropper. If you’re playing on a normal server you should also always chose a 15 cropper as it’s too hard supporting a big army from a 6444 city with normal resource production. Troops eat as much on a normal server, but you production is only one third of speed. When you get your second city on a normal server you stop producting troops in your first city and build it in your second city, the 15 cropper, instead. That’s why you shouldn’t research anything in your first city apart from scouts, since you’ll have to do it all over again in your second one anyways. A 6444 can easily support a pretty big army on speed, so it’s more up to you there. If you play on speed and don’t use gold, you can chose a 6444 if you wish, but at least city number 4 or 5 has to be a 15 cropper.

Village number 2
When you’ve got village number two it’s time for you to start upgrading your resource fields. Don’t let your army production stop while doing this though, the army will still be by far your largest income of resources, but getting some resource fields built up now is important too. The less active you are the more important the resource fields are as they keep producing even when you sleep. Resource fields are more important on the speed server as the production there are 3 times the one you get on a normal server while travel times are only twice as fast. On a normal server raiding is more important and your own production is less important. If you use gold, start with upgrading crop to 5, then clay and wood to 4, and then iron to 4. After this keeping them at the same level is the way to go, apart from running one of each to 10 when you got them all at 7 to get the bonus building. If you don’t use gold you have to look at what resource you need the most and upgrade in relation to that, don’t let the resource fields of the same type get more than one level apart though.

At the same time as you upgrade resource fields you should go for paladins when you need them. This is something you have to evaluate yourself, but the more treaths you have closer to you the quicker you should go for them. I prefer getting paladins before starting to build axes, and if I’m in a real easy area I’ll wait till I have close to 500 clubs. I usually don’t start building axes untill I have at least 600 clubs and about 100 paladins, but it’s the same rule for this, if you have many threaths close to you, you should get them faster. It’s important that you try to get your 21×21 under control now, and you have to use the means necessary. If you start facing too much enemy cavallery you have to start getting the defensive spears too, but I’ve hardly ever done that this early myself. You can’t keep running parties and getting more cities if you can’t defend them. As a teuton being the dominant player and keeping your neighbourhood under control is very important. You don’t want those romans and gauls getting cavallery, and you don’t want other teutons raiding your farms either.

Onwards
On a speed server what you need to do is to keep building your armies as well as having parties going 24/7 in all of your cities. As soon as you get enough culture you’ll build a new city. You should chose a 15 cropper as your capital and build a lot of support city around that one. In one of the cities beside it you’ll have your main army with barracks and stables producing troops 24/7. When you get 15 cities or so around it, you’ll need great barracks and great stables there as well. At this point you’ll also get chiefs and start conquering cities instead of building them. Eventually you also start building defense in cities you don’t need for offense and work towards end game.

On a normal server you’ll do the same thing, but the parties are less important, as you won’t have enough production to keep them running in all your cities. Here you’ll get most of your culture from buildings. Having a high level embassy in all your cities is real nice for this. The embassy trick is usefull in speed servers too. I like having the capital as my army base in normal servers, as I can’t really support 24/7 production in great barracks and stables on this type of servers unless I have like 40 cities or so. If my army gets destroyed somehow I might put up great barracks and stables in one of the support cities to get it back quick if I have enough production.

I’m gonna end this guide here, as things are too complex now to really take it into this guide. I might write another guide later about end game and managing a huge amount of cities, time will show. Feel free to leave some feedback.

source : http://www.travianstrategy.com/?p=7

Aggressive roman strategy guide

Strategy guide for aggressive raiding roman players. I’ve dominated my area and reached high on the rankings on several servers playing like this.

Roman is a very interesting tribe, and for some reason everyone advices new players to go for romans. I really wonder why, I can’t see why it would be the easiest one to play. Usually most new players who chose roman as their tribe just become farms right away. I’m not saying romans is a bad tribe, it’s just played far too passively by many players in my opinion.

Get the rewards
In all my guides I say that you should start following the rewards program first. If you don’t have that on your server, you just build whatever you need to get the homeland bonus, then lvl 3 main building, granary, warehouse, marketplace, rally point and barracks. No need to build up all the fields then, and even if you have the reward bonus on the server, quit after quest number 21 and don’t build all the fields to level two, it’s a waste of resources. You can do that later when you really need the extra gold you get for it, and if you don’t need the gold just wait with it till you have your second village.

Let’s look at the roman basic foot soldier for a bit, the imperian. 40 offense, 35 infantry defence and 50 cavalry defence. The cavalery defence is pretty useless at the start of the server, 35 infantry defence is pretty good though. Having 40 offense it’s definately a stronger troop when it comes to pure fighting than the famouse teuton clubs. It’s much worse in raiding though, only being able to carry 2/3 of the resources and walking slower. It also costs 440 resources compared to a clubswinger costing only 250. Cause of all this you can’t compete with a teuton from the start.

So what do you do? I suggest laying low and avoiding strong teutons from the start. They will attack you, but just be active enough so that they never catch your troops or get any resources from you. They will be busy farming and probably not notice you as you’ll be building troops and your population won’t grow very much at all from the start. Your legionaries are too expensive to lose in fights with teutons at this point, so here is your first goal as a roman.

2 legionaires
From the time you have 2 legionairies you start farming 24/7 with them, but be carefull, you don’t wanna loose even a single one of them. If you’re playing on quest reward server make sure you attack players with 15 or more population with 3 or more troops the first time to avoid losses. As soon as you get the battle report you’ll attack again assuming you got max.

Keep building more legionaries 24/7 and keep them out raiding all the time, never have them at home when you’re not online. Even if they defend fairly well you don’t want to loose them, this is not the time to kill other peoples armies, you’ll wait with that till later. You also don’t want any large teuton in the neighbourhood noticing you and attack you more frequently cause of that. Stay under the radar and pretend you’re just an inactive farm.

I usually don’t build anything but troops in this period, but it’s ok to build up some more crop fields if it makes you feel safer. As a roman you also need a cranny as teutons will be raiding you, and you don’t want to loose all your crops when your crop production is negative, as you’ll then loose some of your precious troops. You will be negative in crop production if you play my style, but it’s no problem as long as your active.

100 legionaires
Yes, I know it sounds like a lot, but I believe it is necessary. Legionaries farm much slower than clubs and to support the building of infrastructure for your EIs(equites imperatoris) you’ll need a large farming income. If your area is exceptionally well and you get close to max in each of your raids I guess you can do with 60-70 or so, but then you have to be very active. You don’t want to spend too much time building up the academy and stables, as you’ll then be too far behind in troops.

What about imperians you might say? Most romans seem to go for imperians first after all. I believe this is a big mistake. What do you need these imperians for now? They are better raiders than the legionaires that’s true, and it costs less resources to build buildings and research them, but compared to EIs they are crap at this point. Who will you be facing in your battles now? Teautons with clubs, and the EIs are way way better than imperians fighting clubs. They can counter clubs easily, they can kill them almost without losses and they can’t be countered by club armies themselves as they are twice as fast as clubs. They are also better raiders than imperians in general even if there are no teutons at all close to you.

When you’ve got those EIs is when the fun starts, now you’re gonna start hitting those teutons around you over and over, counter any attacks they make with their clubs, just look at the combat guide on how to do that well, and kill all of their troops. It feels really good to retaliate on someone who’s been attacking you before, doesn’t it? They may start building spears and hinder you, but this will take them a long time, and spears are densive units that they can’t really raid efficiently with. While you’re farming and attacking teutons with your EIs you’ll keep farming the other villages in the area with your legionaires.

20 equites imperatoris
As soon as you have 15-20 EIs you should go build a hero mansion and get a hero EI. You’ll boost his offense points and he’ll hopefully be levelling fast killing all those clubs. If you happen to run out of teutons to kill off in your 21×21 just use your EIs to farm the other villages in the area. If you don’t have scouts already now you better research them now, usually I reasearch scouts as soon as I’ve got the prerequisites for it, at the 100 legionaires point that is.

Just keep raiding and farming building EIs non stop, any extra resources will be put into crop fields as you’ll have a massive negative crop production by now. The other fields are not that important but let them follow 2-3 levesls behind. When your crop fields reach level 5 or so, start putting extra resources into party and second village infrastructure, take a look at other guides if you don’t know how.

100 equites imperatoris
I am usually at around 100 EIs at the time I found my second city, and I’ll probably have enough culture points without holding a party on speed, on a normal server maybe one party is needed.

The same ideas of where to put your second village goes for any tribe really.

Now when you’ve got your second village it’s time to upgrade more of those resource fields. You should also take the time to research imperians. No reason to stop raiding with your legionaires, but imperians are much better raiders and you should start building those in your barracks now. How you balance the production imperians and EIs depends a lot on what your neighbourhood looks like now. If there are a lot of teutons with clubs and axes left to be killed go for more EIs, if there are more romans, gauls and teutons with spear defenses go for more imperians.

Onwards now you just keep up raiding and dominating your neighbourhood, build up a bigger army and upgrade your resource fields. On a speed server you have to be partying all the time, while on a normal server it’s better to go for culture buildings like the embassy. Don’t rush researching EC (equites caesaris), they are not that good raiders, they are expensive and they are to be used for your main offense army later in the game. I’ll just end this guide here as it is a starting guide, I’ll write more about endgame on this page later.

source : http://www.travianstrategy.com/?p=11

Basic combat strategies

Here I’ll go through a couple of basic combat strategies everyone has to know to play travian well. The strategies and tecniques here will be used from day one and throughout the whole game.

Dodging
I guess this is the most important one to know, and I guess pretty much everyone who’s reading this know what it is. Anyways though, it means sending your army out of your city when another player attacks to avoid a fight and avoid loosing troops. You will be doing this all the time, as you never want to defend your city with offense troops, so you always dodge unless you have defensive troops there with them or you’re certain it’s just a tiny attack that won’t hurt your offense force at all.

Countering
This one is also very important, but many new players don’t know about it. I see all the time players having their clubs killed by my horses and just calling me lucky for hitting them at the exact time they return. It has nothing to do with luck at all, and it’s quite easy using the right tools. I suggest you bookmark this site. It’s webpage where you can put in the starting times and figure out when the army reaches it’s home. First I’ll let you know how to do it when you have troops that have a different speed than the troops the other player attacks you with. Usually you know what kind of troops are coming at you when you see how long time it takes for the attack to reach you. At least in the beginning this is easy, as teutons will have clubs, romans imperians and gauls phalaxes.

Say you have an incoming attack at 2.00.00 pm, just to make it easy. This is from a teauton, so you know how fast his troops move. You have a bunch of imperians yourself, and you wisely decide that it’s better to counter the attack and hit his army at home than it is to defend your own village. Clubs have horrible defense after all. You go to the travel time calculator and type in your own as well as your enemys location and 2.00.00 pm as the starting time, the calculator will then show you when your enemys clubs will be home, say thay are at home at 2.30.00 pm. Now you know you have to send out your imperians so they reach your enemy at exactly 2.30.01 pm, one second after he gets his clubs home, so that he has no chance of sending them away. (Sending them at 2.30.00 might work too, but it’s a gamble and 1 second is good enough) Anyways, now you remember the time 2.30.01 pm, and you type that into the calculator and chose end time instead of starting time, now the calculator will show you when you have to send your imperians to reach there at this time. This will be at some time before 2.00.00 pm as imperians are slower, just look at the exact same time in the calculator and launch your counter attack at this time. If you have say IEs to counter with, you’d launch the attack later as the IEs are much faster than clubs, in fact they are twice as fast.

What if you both have clubs or other type of troops that move at the same speed? Well, then you can’t use this method. What you have to do then is to first dodge and then counter, and the best you can possibly do is to get it like 3 seconds after your enemy returns. That will be good enough against most players though, so I suggest that you still do it. If your enemy arrives at 2.00.00 pm as before, send out your own army say 39 seconds before, at 1.59.21. Then you wait 20 seconds exactly and click the red x to return it home. Now it will return at 2.00.01 pm, one second after your enemys attack has passed by. No you move quick, have another browser window open and send it at your enemy right away. The faster you are with this the harder it will be for your enemy to save his army.

How about if your enemys troops are twice as fast as yours? Well that’s too bad for you, you can’t counter anything that’s twice as fast as you or more, as you’d have to launch your attack at the same time or before your opponent launches his. So unless you can read your enemys mind you have no chance of doing this. All you can do is either research a faster type of troop or build defensive troops to have in your village.

Fake attacks
Fake attacks are attacks that are not real, kinda obvious I guess? They are very real for the one troop that is sent into death though, but who cares. Sometimes you don’t want your enemy to know when your real attack comes so you send out one troop to attack him with now and then, and then suddenly you send your whole force. Alliances also sometimes uses this in wars to attack all their enemy alliances at the same time, so the enemy alliances have no idea what player to defend as they are all under attack. Fakes and real attacks are mixed up this way to confuse your enemys and avoid their defense walls. When sending catapult waves this is also usefull, as you don’t want your target to know which of the hits in the wave is the real clearing attack, so you send a bunch of lone catapults first to confuse him.

source : http://www.travianstrategy.com/?cat=10

Aggressive gaul guide for speed

This gaul strategy guide is for active players who enjoy raiding, farming, dominating their area and reaching to the top of the rankings. Many successful players I’ve talked with are playing gauls like this.

After playing gauls quite a bit lately on many different servers I’ve started enjoying them more and more. Especially on a speed servers it’s a lot of fun raiding with their extremely fast raiding troops, the theutates thunders, TTs for short. Being able to reach anyone in your whole 21×21 in 20 minutes is simply quite awesome. I’ve also found it so easy to catch people with armies at home using the gaul’s fast TTs as your enemy don’t see you coming before it’s too late. On one of the servers I played I was overdoing it though and killed like 2000 troops around me before even starting with infrastructure for city number 2. Not the best way to play, but a whole lot of fun. And sorry to all my victims, it was nothing personal.

This guide is meant for players who can be very active the first week or so of the server and the number of troops as well as time lines reflects that.

Start at server day 1
With gauls I think you should start out when the server starts, or a few hours after it starts, as you don’t want the teutons to have too many paladins or spears when you start hitting them with your TTs. Last time I started one day late on a speed server, and I lost many more troops than I had to cause of paladins and spears.

Build phalanxes to raid with
Anyways, how do you get to these amazing TTs fast? Phalanxes are horrible raiders after all and you don’t want to be stuck with those for too long. I’ve been discussing this with many people in several forums and the general consensus is that you should start out with a number of phalanxes to raid with. That is as soon as you are done with the reward program, if you have that in your server. Take the market place route, as you’ll need that to convert resources with the NPC merchant. After you get the market place, build rally and barracks and start building troops.

As soon as you have 4 phalanxes you should start raiding inactives, if you’re on a server with the reward program, only raid players with less than 9 population, so you’re sure you don’t run into that rat. You need to make 11 raids or more with the phalanxes to make them profitable so you don’t want to kill them on rats. Half a day or so out of beginner protection, if you have some teutons around you, you could try raiding players with less than 20 pop, as the teutons probably already took care of the rat.

Train as many phalanx raiders as needed
How many phalanxes you train to raid with before you start going for resource fields is hard to say, it depends on what your neighbourhood looks like. You want as many phalanxes as needed to empty all the small inactives in your 13×13, but not more than that. Small inactives being anyone under 20 in population, or under 9 population if you wanna be on the safe side. Last speed server I just went for 20 phalanxes before I started with resources, as that was all I needed.

Build resource fields and cranny if needed
Those phalanxes won’t give you the income you need to get the TTs fast on a speed server, so you’ll want to build some resource fields now. How far you extend your resource fields before you start with TT infrastructure depends on how good your neighbourhood is for farming. With 20 phalanxes raiding, get half your fields to lvl 4 and half to lvl 3. With 40 phalanxes raiding all of them to lvl 3 should be enough. If you’re being raided frequently by teutons you also need to build up your cranny so they don’t get anything, and make sure you don’t have your army at home at any time. You’re not gonna fight teutons with phalanxes, wait till you got TTs to do that.

Infrastructure and researching theutates thunders
This is the hardest part of the guide, as it takes quite a few resource to build up buildings and research the TTs, about 17000 total actually. You need stable level 3, blacksmith level 3 and academy level 5 before you research them. Holding 2200 lumber at one time to do the research might be tricky, if you’re getting raided a lot you need to build a pretty big cranny. Hopefully you’ve done well with keeping no rescourses at home for raiders before so that the number of raids you get on you will be limited. With this guide I belive you can get TTs in about 50-55 hours if everything goes real smooth. I had to spend 65 hours last time loosing too many phalanxes in my raids, but even if you have to spend 3 whole days (72 hours), it’s still very good.

After you get the TTs things are starting to get more fun. Now you can take revenge on those annoying teutons who might have been raiding you over and over. If any of them attack you now, make sure you dodge the attack and counter it. Don’t go to crazy with attacking the teutons around you though, don’t attack if it’ll cost you more than 1/3 of your total troops, and make sure you have a steady increase in TTs even when fighting the teutons. Trying to get control of your neighbourhood is important, but you have to keep your raiding income up while doing so. Just lay off the teutons who have a lot of spears, it’s not worth killing those at this point.

Second village
As a gaul you’ll take quite a bit longer time before founding your second village compared to teutons. That’s ok though, it’s no reason to rush it too much. It’s hard to set an exact point on when it should be done, as there are so many factors to consider, but a general guideline I’d say is when you have about 100-150 TTs and a pretty good control of your close neighbourhood, the 13×13. If things go well this should be about day 6 on the server. I usually go for a 15 cropper as my second village but then you should be willing to use some gold at the NPC from the start. There is more about this in my other strategy articles.

From here on I start building myself a nice army of swordsmen as well as keeping up the TT production in my stable. Since this is just a start guide I will end this here and write more about later stages with gauls in other articles. I hope you found this guide usefull and feel free to leave some comments.

source : http://www.travianstrategy.com/?p=15

Travian-Sitter Guide

This guide is written by one of my readers. (of course i’ve never logged into their account cause i didnt even know i’m their sitter)
There is a rule that says if you attack or raid a sitter you can get in trouble, but this only happens if you achually go on to his or hers acount.

RULES FOR SITTING

§2.1 Sitting

Every player has a right to name two sitters who may administer the account during an owner’s absence. Sitters must play the account they are sitting to the account’s full benefit. You may not use the sitting function to attempt 24/7 playing.

Permanently sitting an account for a player that is absent for more than 2 weeks is not allowed. Foreseeable periods of absence longer than two weeks must be reported to a Multihunter before the departure of the owner.

There is no compensation for damages done by a sitter. Owners of an account are fully responsible for the actions of any sitters for their account. In the event that sitters of an account do not follow these rules and the General Terms and Conditions of Travian, both the account owner and the sitter may be punished.
The sitter of an account must sit the account using the account sitting function in game. The sitter of an account may not tend to an account by logging on with the password of the account they are sitting.

source : http://www.travianstrategy.com/?p=69

Gold Transfer FAQ

Gold Transfer FAQ

Q: How do I transfer my gold to another account/server?

A: To transfer your gold, you must delete the account that it is on. After the account is deleted (not just set to delete), you will receive an email at the registered email address for the account with a link to transfer your gold. Please note that transfers are only possible between the same country version (i.e. .COM to .COM).

Q: My account was deleted (not just set to delete) but I did not receive an email with the transfer link. What do I do?

A: Email plus@travian.com with your account name and server stating that the account has been deleted with gold remaining, but you did not receive an email to transfer the gold. The Plus Team will then manually create a new transfer link for you.

Q: On the account deletion page it says "unfortunately your Gold-Account cannot be transfered at this time." Can I still transfer my gold?

A: Yes. This message only means that you will not automatically receive the email to transfer your gold after the account is deleted. After your account is actually deleted (not just set to delete), please email plus@travian.com with your account name and server stating that the account has been deleted with gold remaining, but you did not receive an email to transfer the gold. The Plus Team will then manually create a new transfer link for you.

Q: Can I transfer my gold without deleting the account that it is on?

A: No.

Q: Is the 35 gold that each new player gets transferable?

A: No.

Q: Can I transfer parts of my gold to different accounts?

A: No. The gold transfer link will transfer all of the remaining gold to the 1 account/server that you choose.

Q: Can I transfer gold to .US or another Travian country version?

A: No. Gold may only be transfered to other servers of the same country version that it was purchased on (so only other .COM servers in this case).

Q: Can I transfer my remaining days in the Plus Account, resource production bonuses, defense bonus or attack bonus?

A: No. Only the actual remaining gold on the account may be transfered.
Server Ending

Q: My server is ending soon and I have remaining gold that I purchased. What do I do?
A: When the server ends, all players with gold remaining will recieve an in-game message and email with a link that will allow them to transfer all of the remaining gold on that account to another account/server. Please note, the email will be sent to the email address that is registered with the account.

Q: What if I want to transfer my gold to a new account after the server restarts?

A: To transfer your remaining gold to your new account after the server restarts, simply save the link you received when the server ended in a safe place (like a text file). After the server resets, register your new account like you normally would. Once the server starts and you activate your new account, you may then use the link you saved prior to transfer the gold to that new account. NOTE: You do NOT need to transfer the gold to a temporary account.
Purchasing Gold

Q: Why was my payment declined?

A: There are 3 possible reasons why payments are declined or rejected:

1. You are allowed only 3 tries to enter the correct data within 48 hours
2. You may only make 1 payment within 48 hours
3. Some cards are not accepted by the credit card processing company, so you
may have to try a different card.

flying_fortress
http://forum.travian.com/showthread.php?t=87069)

town-halls

Throwing parties is a Travian trick used by many top players. If you ever wonder how someone could have 40 villages, when you only have 15, the answer is he throws small and great celebrations in all of his towns every day. With these simple tips, you too can climb the population charts.

Town halls are one of the most often overlooked buildings by new players. I myself barely used them in the construction of my first empire. The main limit on growth for an active farmer isn’t his resources or the amount of crops his army needs, but the amount of culture points he has stored up! The only thing stopping a 4 village player from having 10 villages in 3 days is culture points (CP)! Check your CP constantly, and if you have will have enough to found a new village make sure you have a level 10 residence ready to go pumping out the settlers right away. Your first three villages will cost you almost nothing in CP, yet after that they become exponentially more expensive to found, So to increase your growth rate as soon as you have 3 towns you must build a town hall in your capital and begin small parties. Every time you log in you should throw a new party. These may seem expensive, but with active raiding you won’t even notice the drain on your resources. You will find yourself quickly outgrowing all of your neighbors as you party your way to a massive empire. Once you have 5 – 8 cities you should have town halls in all of your cities all having parties at the same time. This is one of the secrets top players use to get so huge!

source : http://www.travianguide.com/tips/town-halls/

travian-trick-main-buildings

A Travian trick to get you ahead of your rivals quickly: The main building is one of the most important buildings in Travian. Yet, many players old and new neglect getting these to level 20. A level 20 main building cuts build time of all other buildings and resource fields in half. This is essential if you want to climb up those rankings.

It also gives you the most CP possible out of that building square. A main building in defense is key, if the enemy fails to destroy your level 20, you can use it to quickly rebuild any damage, to important buildings like granaries and walls, while your still moving defenders into place. Top players will get a main building to 20 in a new conquer before doing much else, because this building will save him time and energy over the next few days.

Even Romans benefit from this level 20 main building. They can build twice as fast as the other races, so the main building counts twice for them! Many conquer targets get stuck in the mud and end up getting conquered with sub par mainbuildings. Don’t let this happen to you! Resource fields are important, but get those mainbuildings up there right along with those resources and you won’t regret it.

source : http://www.travianguide.com/tips/travian-trick-main-buildings/

village-placement-tricks

So, you’re an active raider 10 days into the game and ready to found your second village. But, where to put it? This guide will cover the criteria for village placement. This guide is intended for new players who haven’t much experience with founding villages, but may also be useful to experienced players who haven’t put much thought into where they place villages.

The basic assumption of this guide is that you are in a major alliance. This means that no major alliance members should farm you without causing a diplomatic incident. If you are a lone player, the guide should still be helpful, but you are asking to get farmed or even conquered at any time. Therefor unallied players should focus heavily on defense. The alliance is a lot like organized crime because the alliance offer you protection, and you offer them troops. Few successful players make it long without joining a big alliance.

Village founding options:

1. 1.Directly next to your capital
2. .Relatively close to your capital (one screen away)
3. Semi-close such as within 3 screens
4. Extremely far away

Option 1 is probably most common because it allows for quick transport of resources and troops to the new village. This makes for ideal protection of new villages, as well as a great place to store extra offense troops from your capital because they can be quickly recalled for attacks. However, this approach has several drawbacks which most don’t consider. This selection does nothing to increase your raiding range. It also means you won’t get extra oasis for your new town. Also remember that most players move their capital early on to a large crop village to support a larger army. Which means these villages will end up not being as close to defensive troops as you may like late in the game.

Option 2 is my primary choice for all new villages including my second village. I enjoy having a raiding force in each new town and the new village can be planted directly next to good farms. I also maintain more oasis throughout the game with this strategy. Although, some may consider this option too risky because you tend to encroach on others more frequently and have a longer period for reinforcements and supply. I have found that my satellite villages rarely fall under serious attack, and when they do the attacks come from far enough away that it is very easy to defend.

Option 3 Is often usd to found 9 and 15 crop villages as you don’t have much choice as thier location. Or, this option can be used to increase the distance between your empire and a farmer. Sometimes this option can be helpful if you want to place a city near larger allies for protection or to protect a smaller ally. It can also be useful to leap frog away from allies to expand your raiding range. Large alliances create huge dead zones where unallied farms never survive. This makes the game very boring for a farmer, and placing your villages away from the main cluster can improve your resource gathering.

Option 4 is usually a last ditch effort to get free of a farmer after option 3 fails to elude him. It is similar to starting your account over, but it uses your capital as a leg up. I don’t believe many serious players found resource clusters in the void around the outside of the game as troop transport times are wicked. But, this can be a viable choice for new players looking for some peaceful simcity play. Option 4 can also be used by members of large alliances to find “dead zones” in their quadrant where no allies exist. By moving your empire to the heart of a dead zone it will make for a very active and aggressive game. To find such zones, create a list of all the alliances allied to your own alliance and input them into a Travian map tool such as those in the map tools section.

By following Option 2 your empire expands much like a command and conquer base that will eventually stretch far and wide in all four directions. I try to keep all of my border towns within 2 hours of my 9/15 crop capital because your only real offense will come from that town. With each new town you found, try to plant it right next to your best farm, and within range of at least 2 oasis. Also, you’ll want to give your allies some space because sharing farms and oasis is always a bummer. When selecting villages you want to take special care to avoid large aggressive players. While many players are content to ignore another large player 2 screens away, if you found a village within sight of their capital you may just start a war that will be very costly. Of course if you have your eye on some soon to be farms… a perfect way to get a foot hold near them is to found a village there. Most players will be afraid of players much larger than themselves, so they will ignore your town despite your inability to defend it. By the time they realize you are about to conquer all their villages you have 2 senators with in 15 minutes of their entire empire.

source : http://www.travianguide.com/tips/village-placement-tricks/

Alliance Founder Leaves Alliance

So, you started a Travian alliance and you want to quit? So, you need to know what happens when the alliance founder leaves the alliance. Maybe your the co-leader, and you want to bump off the alliance founder. Maybe you just want to quit the alliance and move to the World Wonder meta-alliance.

The boys and I have done some testing, and this is how it works:

The alliance founder may be special because he holds the embassy, and started with all the privileges, but the founder is no different from any other account in the guild. If you give “assign position” to another player, he can use those rights to remove your privileges, or even kick you from the alliance you have founded! So, be very careful giving rights out. Reserve “assign position” for yourself. No one else should need this, unless of course you want to leave, or become inactive. If the founder of the alliance deletes, or quits, nothing happens.

That’s right if you quit, no one will even notice. Just make sure you gave “assign position” to someone else in the guild, because then they will have full control over every aspect of the guild. If the founder quit and gave no one “assign position” well then you’re all screwed.

The number of players an alliance can hold is based on the LARGEST embassy in the group. This embassy need not be the founder’s! If you get tired of building the embassy, make someone else do it. Delegate the task to a good Teuton player who can afford it. As long as he doesn’t have “assign position” he has no extra power except that he can destroy the embassy, and force you to rebuild it.

If your embassy is catapulted, you do not lose any players. You simply can’t add new players until you rebuild it.

Forum thread that discusses it

source : http://www.travianguide.com/tips/alliance-founder-leaves-alliance-or-his-embassy-is-destroyed/

how-travian-cheats-get-caught-by-multihunter

Here at Travianguide we believe information should be free and open. Knowledge is power. If the game administrators think they can stop cheaters by closing threads, they are mistaken. The best way to stop people from abusing Travian to the point of ruin, is to have an open and honest discussion about cheating, methods to stop them, and then work to accomplish the most innovative solutions. Prepare to find out how Multihunter works, and how the cheaters evade them.

This could help cheaters escape detection, but thousands, if not ten’s of thousands, of players are cheating every single day. And, knowledge is our best defense. If you want to play a game that doesn’t have bot-based script cheaters give Tribal Wars a try. Tribal wars is a fairly weak Travian clone, but its lack of cheating, and more active programming staff make it an attractive alternative.

So how does MH work? The first thing a person learns when they contact Multihunter is that its EXTREMELY difficult for Multihunter to help you. And, that a smart person always contacts Multihunter2 as multihunter1 is always too busy. A MH needs an exact link to the game screen in question before they can see other people’s accounts. Simply giving them the account name isn’t enough. What this means for cheaters, is even people who blab about scripting and password sharing usually get away with it because MH simply doesn’t have good automated tools for detecting messages with people’s passwords in them. Simple fix: Check for the users password from the user’s table of the database before every IGM is sent. If any person on any travian server EVER sends an IGM with thier password in it, the game can ban them automatically no human interaction needed. If your going to password share, do it on Instant messenger. The fact that Travian allows you to share your password via IGM is a pathetic failure.

Also the game automatically deletes all the evidence of every game event every week. So someone cheats for the first couple of weeks and then stops, the evidence will be cleaned by the game in a very short time frame. This also bites you in the ass when someone sends you threatening messages. If you don’t report them to MH before the message deletes, MH WILL NOT HELP YOU.

The tech side of catching cheaters is fairly straight forward. Any web game has two main methods of cheat detection. Internet Protocol (IP) address, and cookie/session key. Every machine on the Internet has an IP address, when you play two accounts from the same network, like from a college dorm, your IP will match another user. Travian has a feature called pc-sharing that allows people who share the same IP to play travian. Basically, anyone with a matching IP who isn’t on the pc sharing list is on the short list for a ban. Those who cheat from college dorm rooms and other public networks often get away with it for longer. Once MH finds a matching IP they look at account activity. If the two accounts work closely together, are never online at the same second, and seem to communicate without IGM, they are highly likely to be banned.

Travian session cookies is the second method MH use to catch cheaters. Your browser records a session for you each time you log in. If you log in to someone elses account with a cookie from another account, you are automatically flagged as a cheat. So, clear your cookies right? Wrong! A suspect cheater who always has no cookie or state information on every connection will often be scrutinized extra hard as a cheat. The most affective way to run 3 accounts is to use 1 browser for each account. That way you have nice clean sessions for each account you play. You just have to make sure you don’t forget which browser is which.

Hiding your IP address is simple its called a public proxy, google will give you several website that will display hundreds of proxies. However, a proxy is slow, and seriously makes travian less fun, as you can’t split waves from a proxy server. To stop this Travian admin can simply blacklist all public proxies.

source : http://www.travianguide.com/travian-cheats/how-travian-cheats-get-caught-by-multihunter/#more-58

How To Be Great Travian Farmer

Hey guys, I am going to write a quick tidbit about how I farm
I have been a top 10 farmer on every server I have played, and believe me, it is not rocket science. Please note, this is a guide for an intermediate player. New players should check elsewhere for farming guides.
Let me start out with a quick rundown on the races.

Roman:
Expensive units, high defense vs. infantry early on.
Gaul:
Relatively expensive units, first good raiding unit is the Thunder (commonly called the TT)
Teuton:
Has the mighty clubswinger - By far the most efficient all-around raiding unit. Very strong attack value (and carrying capacity) for the cost. A clubswinger only takes just over 4 trips to pay himself off. You can send 11 clubs at a village, lose 2, and still come out on top. No other race comes close to that ratio.

I feel that the Teuton is the only way to go if you are an aggressive player. I know many of you disagree, spare me the comments. Gauls are decent also, but the only reason I would go with Gauls are for their speed (you can be more selective about farms, and farm a wider area), or if I wanted a top attacker spot

Rule #1 of playing a Teuton successfully: You must be active. By active I mean you have to log into the game at least once every couple hours. If you want to be a top 10 robber you will have to be in playing at least once per hour, especially if you want to sleep at night. Remember that you have no resource fields. Your resources are earned through raiding. Logged off means no raiding. No raiding = no resources. I said it wasn't rocket science....I didn't say it was easy.

First off, after the first couple days, don't build anything unless it is a crop field or a barracks upgrade (or part of the settler/town hall tech tree). There is no need for resource fields if you are a Teuton in the first third of the server. Your goal should be to keep your barracks building clubs as fast as you can. Don't even look at your population ranking, it doesn't mean anything. If you want to find the top players on the server, check the robbers list.

Now, I am going to spare you all of the building information, and jump right into what I tell people when they ask how I play.

Okay, when you get your first 2 or 3 clubs, start hitting the closest Teuton or Roman to you. Just round-trip your guys on him until he dries up. Then move on to the next guy. Use every bit of resources you get from this to build more clubs. You want to keep your barracks busy. Do you have clubs queued for the next hour? Upgrade the barracks, and keep it upgrading. You will ALWAYS have your barracks producing clubs. Unless your army is 10x your population, you need to have that barracks running. Your clubs are your resource producers, never stop building them.

When you get up to 10 clubs and you have dried up your close neighbors, send 3 clubs around to all of the guys you have already hit, and make sure they are still dry. Your goal is to take all of the production of your neighbors, and to do that, you have to keep attacking them constantly. You should be attacking them so much that you know the instant they log on, because you get zero resources!

Once you get up to about 50 clubs, you can really start rocking the neighborhood. Continue to stay away from Gauls for now, since their traps could cripple you. From this point on you can follow my basic plan for farming. If you follow these rules, you will easily be a top farmer (given that you are active enough).

At 200 clubs
1. You should be able to hold down your 7x7 with this many troops. When you get up in the morning, or you have been away for a while, send an attack of 20 or so to pick up the resources that have built up.
-If you max out those 20, send twice as many (follow this rule indefinitely or until you feel you are getting close to emptying his storage).
-If you pick up resources, but do not max, send the amount of troops it would take to pick up that number of resources. (eg. If you get 756 resources, send 13 clubs, since they can carry 780 resources.)
-If you get no resources, move on, and attack that town with 5-10 troops in a couple hours.
-If you meet a defense, and lose some troops but max out the rest, send as many troops as you can to clear the force, and get the resources. (Given that you can do so without taking heavy losses.) A lot of people avoid anyone that is building troops, this is a terrible mistake. First of, you are losing a farm by leaving him alone. Worse still, you are probably losing other farms because you are allowing that person to farm in your neighborhood. For the first couple weeks of the server, you should be attempting to gain sole control of the area, do not allow anyone else to farm in the area.

Once you have 200 clubs you need to start working on getting some scouts. Gauls in your area will no doubt be working on getting TTs to ruin your little operation. You need scouts first, and then some spears shortly after that. Until you have some spears you need to make sure your clubs are not at home or they will get whiped. They only have 5 defense versus cavalry, so your 200 clubs can get annihilated by 20 or less of any cavalry in the game. 1 spear has the same defense vs. cavalry as 13 clubs, so you should get a few of them to defend your helpless little warmongers.

A note on messages: There are several different messages you will receive from your farms. Some will beg for mercy, some will threaten you, and some will tell you that they are going to delete because of you (those are my favorite). This is a delicate situation, because you don't want your farms to delete, and you don't want to get too much attention. Many top robbers just ignore messages, but I usually reply. One reason I reply is because I like to talk with people in game, another is because usually you can string them along and they won't delete. It is my policy to not take tribute or NAPs for the first quarter of the server. That early it is critical that you take full control of your area. This is at your discretion, but to be a top robber you just can't afford to have friends.

By 1000 clubs you should be looking for a Gaul or Roman employee nearby. These can be very useful because you will need a little defense vs. infantry, and either of these can do that for you. If you do not have an ally nearby that is one of these races, you should be looking for a mid to fast growing Roman or Gaul in your area to employ. They supply you with reinforcements in return for 'protection'. The best employee is one that you can sit for. Be careful to stay within the rules as far as sending resources and reinforcements, a 6 hour ban can really hurt your operation (especially if you have negative wheat production.)

Your expansion of your raiding zone, and your exact numbers in the scheme I have given you will be at your own discretion. Obviously when you have 2000 troops, you will not be sending attacks of 5 and 10, you will need to increase that number to 20-40. This is just a basic pattern that can launch you into the top 10 robbers.

The biggest mistake that potential farmers make is they try to send attacks that are much too large. I see so many players sending their entire army at one farm at a time. This is a terrible mistake, as you are usually not going to maximize your carrying capacity on a raid that large.

This is an article to help the intermediate farmer become an expert farmer. If you have comments to that end, please leave them below.

source :
Dr. Kevorkian
http://forum.travian.com/showthread.php?t=98441

How To Stop Great Travian Farmer

In this post I would like to give you guys some guidelines on how to stop someone that is farming you. I will start out with the basic techniques, and then move on to some new tricks. Let me start out by saying that I am a top 10 robber. So this post is written from the farmer's perspective. This post was written to help people that are being farmed by experienced, relentless farmers, not the every day beginner Teuton.

The first thing you have to evaluate is why you are being farmed. The initial motivation for someone to farm you is for resources, but many times, in the last 3 quarters of the server, you could also be attacked for the purpose of raising the level of the attacker's hero.

This leads us to the three most common solutions to stop farming.
1. Do not send messages to your attacker. Most farmers will not stop attacking you because of a message. If you decide to send a message and try to negotiate with him, be polite. Use proper message etiquette, and do not threaten him or curse. Do not send messages like 'STOP ATTACKING ME!!!!' or 'why are you attacking me....' These will just annoy him, you both know why he is attacking you.
2. Do not allow the player to take any resources from you. If there is no benefit to raiding you, many players will stop raiding. This will help about half the time.
3. Do not allow the player to kill any troops. Building defensive troops won't deter most farmers. The troops that you can build in between raids are insignificant compared to his force. The same goes for traps. Traps are next to worthless after the first week on a speed server (2 weeks on a normal server). You may have 200 traps, but he has 2000 troops, you are just wasting resources. Also, if his troops do get trapped, you can be sure he is sending another attack right away, even if he doesn't get resources. Basically, traps just get you attacked more.
If you follow these two guidelines you will fall off of the radar about 50-70% of the time.

Now for the tricks that you may not have heard of.
There are two types of successful farmers out there. One will randomly attack people in his area and just delete the reports. The other waits for an attack to land, then responds depending on the results. If you are being farmed by the second type, you will almost always have an attack incoming from him, but he is easier to trick.

The trick relies on the fact that town names show up on attack reports, rather than player names. Basically, if you change your town name to be the same as a neighbor close by, when his attacks land on you and your neighbor, he is going to think he accidentally sent a double attack. Many times, he will delete the earlier report, and look at the most recent one. The idea is that if you continually change your village name to your neighbor's names (switching every 3-4 hours), eventually you will drop out of your attacker's queue.

While I was playing my most recent server, 90% of my attacks would be from my attack log, and only 10% would be launched from the map view. Using this technique you could fall off of the radar for as much as 4 days at a time.

It may take a little bit of work, but this method can save you from having to delete and start over (maybe in the area of another big farmer).

source :
Dr. Kevorkian
http://forum.travian.com/showthread.php?t=98429
